As an Operations Engineer, you will be part of a distributed team responsible for the design, development and deployment of the next generation infrastructure for our highly successful crowdsourcing solution. Bring your wealth of experience with systems engineering, EC2, PostgreSQL database scalability, and operations automation and we'll give you a challenge worthy of your skills. A few things you'll work on as an Operations Engineer Automating infrastructure - quickly build, deploy and destroy servers for every purpose, from quick testbeds to mission-critical clusters Scaling our platform – figure out how to most efficiently distribute work across the globe Debugging runtime problems – trace issues across multiple systems, eliminate them, and measure the results. Solving complex problems with simple, repeatable solutions Performance analysis - you should feel comfortable working all the way down the stack, starting with a slow web request and ending with an analysis of network-based disk IO Must-have: Excellent system-level thinking – we want you to help design our systems, not just implement specs Solid command of system automation frameworks and other DevOps concepts Unix mastery Prior experience building out and scaling at least one significant production app's infrastructure Excellent system-level thinking – we want you to help design our systems, not just implement specs. Interest in and opinions on: configuration management; Build and deploy strategies; Imperative vs. declarative configuration; Trending and reporting systems; System security. FTW: A solid open-source portfolio Experience in one or more programming languages (we primarily use Ruby and Clojure) Distributed system experience - making a system highly available in the cloud Crowdsourcing – the name of our game – big ups if you're familiar Level 3 or higher proficiency in humor
