The Development Director (DD) at EA, is a critical role and responsible for ensuring the successful delivery of a game or product, on time and within budget. Prior to production the DD carries out a detailed analysis of the game/system design and works out the project ‘milestones’ (specific targets that have to be met by certain dates), agreeing upon these with the key technical and creative managers, such as the Game Designer, Art Director and Lead Programmer. The DD then works out a schedule for the project and decides the personnel and equipment needed. He/She controls the financial resources and negotiates all contracts with suppliers and contractors. Once development is underway, the DD monitors the team’s progress against the schedule. Must be able to prioritize when production deadlines are a concern, manage risks, and plan for contingencies. Finally, the DD is responsible for all people management on the team and en-tasked with motivating and developing all staff under their management and develop their career.
The successful candidate must have proven managerial, leadership and development skills. Core responsibilities include Program Management of end-to-end development of solutions for gaming products. In close partnership with producers and quality assurance teams, the DD will need to manage multiple concurrent projects ensuring on-time and on-budget delivery in a rapidly evolving and fast paced environment. The DD must be meticulous, detail-oriented and able to multitask efficiently as well as be able to bring sound business judgment when making program decisions.

Degree in Computer Science or equivalent; PMP Certification an asset
10+ years of software development experience
7+ years of leadership experience; strong negotiation, mediation and conflict resolution skill
Experience directing project management for a large team and managing other directors and managers as direct reports.
