The Valencia Campus Title V "Cooperating in Innovative Interactive Programs for Rural Hispanic Student Success" is seeking a Senior Tutor. This is a Title V Cooperating Hispanic-Serving Institution grant funded program. This program is designed to increase student success with online courses. The Sr. Tutor will: Recruit, hire, train, schedule, and supervise peer tutors in the program as well as provide direct tutoring services for online students, coordinate with other campus Sr. Tutors to provide the best possible tutoring services to our students. The individual will coordinate and facilitate supplemental instruction and individual tutoring activities with program instructors; participate in staff meetings and contribute to the general developmental of the Program. The Sr. Tutor should be proficient in tutoring English and Math with strong technical skills. The applicant will work closely with the program director to conduct student surveys and insure the accuracy of the data. This person will assist the program director with new student orientation, tutoring dual credit, and implementing and designing online educational materials. The candidate will be required to travel to Grants, NM periodically. Located about 30 miles south of Albuquerque in rural Valencia county, the University of New Mexico-Valencia Campus is a two-year branch campus of the University of New Mexico which functions as a community college in the region and is designated a Hispanic Serving Institution. With an emphasis on teaching excellence, Valencia Campus offers academic transfer programs, technical vocational programs, Adult Basic Education, and Dual Credit High School/College courses to Valencia and Socorro Counties. The faculty and staff serve a student body of over 2,000 credit students per semester. This is a benefits eligible position. Successful completion of at least 60 college-level credit hours; at least 3 years of experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
BA in Math, Computer Science or related field Experience in/with: Tutoring online courses: Math and English. Researching, selecting and/or designing learning materials Supervising student employees Working with diverse students Gathering data, compiling information, and preparing reports Possess: Strong technical skills such as MS Office Apps, Educational Software Web 2.0 tools Proficiency in/with: Critical thinking and problem solving skills College Reading & Learning Association (CRLE) Training Gathering data, compiling information, and preparing reports The use of Learning Management Systems (such as WebCT) Working with faculty and students on-line
