NewsGator (Microsoft’s 2011 U.S. Partner of the Year) is seeking a driven and results-oriented individual to help us grow and expand our highly successful Microsoft partnership. The Director - Microsoft Alliance will manage NewsGator’s global Microsoft partnership with responsibility for strategic direction, co-marketing efforts, field engagement, product marketing activities, and partner program requirements. The Director will report to the VP-Microsoft Alliance and assist with maintaining NewsGator’s ‘depth-managed’ Microsoft partnership status while working to expand the depth and breadth of the partnership across Microsoft’s international subsidiaries.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
The Director – Microsoft Alliance is responsible for nurturing and advancing all aspects of NewsGator’s Microsoft partnership and for ensuring a high-level of technical and business alignment between NewsGator and Microsoft. The responsibilities for this position will include: • Develop overall objectives for the partnership that align to and drive NewsGator’s corporate revenue and strategic goals • Meet overall revenue, funding, and strategic goals for the Microsoft partnership on a global basis • Negotiate for and secure funding from Microsoft • Develop and implement field engagement, co-marketing, and co-selling programs with Microsoft • Communicate NewsGator’s Microsoft partnership objectives corporate-wide and give guidance and training to all NewsGator employees on how they can influence and help meet those objectives • Expand NewsGator’s global Microsoft relationships • Recruit, hire, train, and manage regional resources in Europe and Asia • Enable joint technology collaboration and facilitate NewsGator’s adoption of the latest releases of Microsoft products • Establish partnership success criteria and regularly report progress and results to Microsoft and NewsGator executive teams • Grow NewsGator’s contact database of key Microsoft contacts • Partner with marketing in the development of vertical/industry go-to-market sales and marketing tools and messaging • Build NewsGator’s brand and field engagement with Microsoft via evangelism, field training, newsletter distribution, email campaigns, in-person meetings, etc. • Execute award submissions and win wires to gain recognition from Microsoft • Maintain and renew NewsGator’s gold-level certifications in the Microsoft Partner Network
Qualifications:
The candidate selected will have a proven track record of Microsoft partner management at a successful Microsoft-focused SI or ISV organization and/or experience working at Microsoft in a field, partner or product role. The candidate must also demonstrate the ability to thrive in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment where there are high performance expectations. Requirements for this role include: • Demonstrated prior success in management of Microsoft as a partner (i.e. a Microsoft alliance manager at a Microsoft focused SI or ISV) or previous experience as a Microsoft employee that managed or interfaced with Microsoft SI or ISV partners – only candidates with this experience will be considered for the role • Proven track record of exceeding corporate objectives, revenue goals, and personal job commitments • Ability to work cross-functionally to achieve your departmental objectives • Must be a “roll-up-the-sleeves, do what it takes to get the job done,” individual • Energetic, self-starter who also demonstrates strong multi-tasking capabilities • Superb interpersonal skills and proven ability to foster a positive team-oriented working environment • Strong and polished business acumen • Ability to autonomously create and deliver presentations/interactions with C-level executives at Microsoft (Corp VP level) and customers (e.g. CIOs) • Excellent leadership and people-management skills • Solid understanding of marketing and sales processes within an enterprise software marketplace • Success working for an early- or growth-stage company • Knowledge of and experience with social networking, portals, knowledge management, enterprise content management, and/or search solutions • Effective written, verbal, and presentation skills • Ability to operate effectively across geographic boundaries, virtual teams, and multiple departments • College degree required, MBA degree preferred • Ability to travel (both domestic and international)
