Responsible for assisting the nurse in providing care to the geriatric, adult, adolescent, pediatric and infant patients during the perioperative phase of their hospitalization; a ssists the professional staff in the Operating Rooms to facilitate surgical cases by maintaining supplies and equipment including carts, scopes and video monitors used by Nurses and Anesthesiologists; coordinates all necessary services for repairs with ANCC; assists the nursing personnel with surgical instrumentation and the disinfection and sterilization of equipment and instruments; performs surgical case picks for same day and following day cases; a ssists in preparing the surgical patient in the Holding Room and care of the post-operative patient in the PACU.
High School diploma or equivalent required. Previous hospital experience required. Previous OR experience preferred. Must be p hysically able to lift and transfer patients/equipment, stand and walk for extended periods of time, and record and report information.
BLS or CPR/AED training required and accepted from only 2 organizations:
1. American Heart Association - BLS/ACLS for Healthcare Providers (CPR & AED) Program
2. American Red Cross - CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer
No online programs from any organization will be accepted.
