Track and analyze media coverage and manage and generate content for multiple social media platforms; understand our audience, create and execute social media and marketing plans that deliver results, engage readers and build awareness of the Georgia Southern brand; provide daily summaries of coverage and online activity; manage news and social media tracking tools to generate reports on coverage/share of voice; partner with other internal departments to write and edit feature stories, profiles, op-eds and other copy for use in University publications, the media and online.

Additional Position Summary Details:
Serve as a contact with the news media; initiate, develop, and maintain working relationships with local, state, trade and national media representatives; generate press materials including press releases, bios, captions, feature stories, backgrounders, fact sheets, talking points, pitches, weekly event updates, daily news summary and story ideas; maintain the University's newsroom Web site; partner with internal departments to develop and implement strategic public relations and social media initiatives that differentiate the brand and drive increased visibility and interest; create communication plans, content and ideas that drive news and social media engagement/coverage of the University.

Position Type:

Minimum Education Required:
Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or related field

Minimum Experience Required:
Three or more years of related work experience

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Proficiency with Mac and/or PC computers; ability to manage multiple projects effectively and simultaneously while meeting deadlines; ability to work in cross functional teams; effective communication (verbal and written), organization and human relations skills; ability to work well in a diverse environment; successful completion of background investigation prior to employment.
