High school diploma or equivalent. Typing at least 45 WPM and excellent telephone and customer service skills required. Some college level science courses and a minimum of six months in a medical setting preferred. Should be able to perform effectively under a high degree of pressure and stress due to workload and customer interaction. Must demonstrate good organizational skills and be detail oriented, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and good computer skills.

Must have current (previous 3 months at least) LABDAQ experience.

Job Description:

Answers all phone calls coming into the laboratory. Gives test information and test results. Responds to questions on testing or specimen requirements. Troubleshoots/ resolves client problems and concerns. Performs various clerical duties as needed.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES: Answer and process all phone call requests. This includes reporting patient results, receiving orders, providing information on specimen requirements and testing status, troubleshooting and resolving client problems and concerns, and keeping an electronic phone log. Ensure that results are given only to those authorized to receive them. Use the computer to access patient information, reprint and fax reports, add or cancel tests as requested, occasional log in of specimens, and other functions as required to meet client request or correct patient accounts. Assist with the enveloping and distribution of patient reports. Clerical duties include but are not limited to faxing, filing, scanning requisitions and sending written confirmation of verbal orders. Responsible for daily completion of the following tasks: call/ fax work list, and problem/ question work list. Research and distribute patient reports from “unknown” doctors. Dispatch cabs as necessary for STAT testing. Travel to various parts of the lab to transport specimens between the hospital and the lab. Work independently and with minimal supervision. Additional duties as assigned. Follow all lab safety policies and respond appropriately to an emergency or a drill. Maintain a safe and clean work environment at all times. Attend all safety/compliance training classes and conform to company safety guidelines and requirements. Conform to established and new procedures and policies instituted by the company. Remain flexible with regards to work schedule as staffing requirements dictate.
