JOB DESCRIPTION

We are looking for an experienced, motivated Oracle DBA to support our mission critical Ecommerce systems.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

-Support, administer and maintain production and non-production database environments primarily running on the AIX platform.
-Participate in the database design process to proactively manage storage, performance and security provisions and to prepare all implementation details.
-Implement database schema changes according to formal procedures to support new application features.
-Work with the development and application support teams to identify, triage and resolve performance issues using diagnostic tools such as AWR, ADDM etc...
-Participate in the ongoing application-database performance tuning effort including routine analysis and optimization of new and existing SQL queries.
-Implement and maintain proactive database monitoring for space issues, database locking, performance issues, and other key metrics.
-Proactively plan resource capacity to meet the demands of business growth and the introduction of new application features by using trend analysis, load testing and simulation techniques.
-Deploy and maintain high availability & failover technologies such as Data Guard and Real Application Clusters to maximize database availability.
-Create, clone and upgrade environments to support the evolving needs of application systems.
-Define, implement and support Backup and Recovery policies using RMAN.
-Configure and monitor database replication services.
-Perform database restore and recovery in the event of an outage.
-Define, implement, and enforce security standards for the database in compliance with company policies as well as compliance frameworks including SOX and PCI.
-Ensure sensitive data is appropriately protected via industry standard encryption solutions.
-Work with the appropriate teams (Security, Compliance, Internal Audit, and External Auditors) to review security policies, participate in annual audits, and implement the appropriate remediation measures.
-Contribute to and update systems documentation, including policies and procedures, as required.
-Provide escalation support for complex problem resolution including root cause analysis.

REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS -BS/BA or equivalent work experience
-8+ years Oracle DBA experience in a production environment including Oracle 11g
-Proven experience managing mission critical 24x7 database systems
-Proven experience with tuning databases and queries
-Excellent Unix shell scripting skills
-Excellent SQL and PL/SQL scripting skills
-Excellent communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills
-Experience with replication technologies such as Streams, GoldenGate, and IBM CDC (DataMirror)
-Experience with relational database design
-Experience with security monitoring and encryption tools
-Preferred: experience with Ecommerce retail system concepts
-Preferred: experience with data modeling tools such as ERwin, Embarcadero ER/Studio, PowerDesigner
-Preferred: experience with other DBMS platforms such as SQL Server & MySQL

Responsibilities and role are commensurate with experience.
