The Restaurant Equipment Engineer supports company and franchisee restaurant operations with equipment related issues and solutions. This role is chartered to increase product, service and cost efficiencies through equipment enhancements including food storage, preparation and cooking platforms. Value engineering in equipment platforms is paramount in all equipment decisions and specifications.
Develops and maintains specification for cooking, cold holding, hot holding, preparation and beverage equipment.
Serves as the subject matter expert for operations teams on all equipment related questions or issues.
Tests and implements new and/or enhanced cooking platforms, cold holding solutions and all other equipment related to the daily operations of the restaurants.
Manages equipment test programs in partnership with company and franchise partners
Investigates and develops cost reduction initiatives with emphasis on energy consumption and “Green” solutions.
Recommends equipment packages to franchise partners for new restaurant openings.
Manages large scale, system-wide equipment changes as needed and in conjunction with remodel program
Performs other responsibilities as needed.
Follows company policies, upholds professional standards, and performs all work in a manner respectful of others.
Skills and Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering or related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
Minimum 5-7 years restaurant design or equipment specification and engineering experience.
Prior experience in value engineering in large and small footprint restaurant operations
Comprehensive knowledge of building codes and regulations
Strong project management skills
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail
Proficiency in Microsoft office applications, including: MS Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.
