Technical Support Services' UNIX System Support provides UNIX system administration services for the two datacenters servicing the UCDMC campus and the Health System. This position provides technology support in the planning, implementation, management and support of the health system's UNIX operating systems and related technical infrastructure.
Under direction, this role will provide Journeyman System Administrator functions in the design, installation, tuning, debugging, modification and maintenance of UNIX-based operating systems and hardware in a manner consistent with the health system's IT and security requirements. Incumbent must function at an Journeyman level in AIX System administration, PowerHA System Mirror for AIX administration, Linux administration, management of IBM Power hardware and IBM PowerVM virtualization.
This position is responsible for implementing and maintaining highly-available UNIX-based systems, which may require knowledge in the following technologies: AIX, Linux, PowerHA System Mirror for AIX, Storage Area Networks and Storage appliance based replication. Additionally, this role requires a solid understanding of industry best-practices and associated tools/techniques for managing the UNIX environments. Incumbent will function as a resource and technical expert as part of the Unix System Support team.
