Job Description:
  • Administers the appraisal process for the bank
within an assigned territory that is in compliance
with the bank's policy and provisions of FIRREA,
USPAP, TILA, Dodd Frank and other applicable
regulations.
  • Establishes and maintains a scorecard of approved
appraisers based on credentials, abilities,
geographic location, market specialties, and
compliance and quality.
  • Obtains bids, defines timing, and negotiates prices
for appraisal review assignments.
  • Generates and gather data on the economic condition
of the real estate market for the lending
territories and reports to VP Collateral Valuation
and/or Chief Risk & Credit Officer on changes that
affect the lending process, collateral value, or
market trends.
  • Completes internal reviews and supports value
questions raised by credit, lending and special
asset officers.
  • Responsible for the timely engagement in of an
independent review of appraisals reports of
commercial and residential real estate appraisals in
order to determine if collateral is acceptable,
supports value of property and is in compliance with
regulatory requirements. Recommends and/or takes
action to achieve compliance for unacceptable
appraisal reports.
  • Makes recommendations to management and affiliate
bank staff relative to the risk management of real
estate collateral.
  • Communicate regularly with appraisers, borrowers,
and bank associates.
  • Responsible for the administration, direction and
coordination of the corporate appraisal policy and
appraisal review program for Doral Bank, its
subsidiaries and bank affiliates to ensure
compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Provide on-going training for the appropriate bank
employees / reviewers and support staff to keep all
concerned informed of changes in regulations and
bank policies, changes in values by markets, changes
in values by property types, etc.
  • Responsible for hiring, staffing, training,
performance appraisal reviews, promotions, salary
recommendations and terminations.
  • Acts in alignment with company values, goals and
leadership behaviors.
  • Full compliance with Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and all
local and federal business and employment laws.
  • Bachelor’s Degree is required, a business major is
preferred.
  • Minimum five ( 5) years’ related experience, desired
with bank credit, commercial real estate lending or
commercial appraisal services of which 3-5 years was
as a bank or underwriter reviewer.
  • State Licensed (EPA) is required. Certified General
Real Estate Appraiser is preferred.
  • Ability to read, analyzes, and interprets general
business periodicals, professional journals,
technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in
English and Spanish.
  • Excellent knowledge of USPAP appraisal guidelines
required.
  • Excellent customer service skills. Must have good
judgment and good reasoning skills for problem
solving and be able to handle complex assignments
with confidence.
  • Proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook is
required.
