The Enterprise Sourcing & Procurement (ES&P) spend analytics position has the responsibility for providing spend analytics support on behalf of the ES&P team. The candidate will work as a subject matter expert supporting the ES&P category managers in the area of spend analysis and identification of cost savings opportunities. The candidate will collaborate with other ES&P Reporting teammates and members of the ES&P Commodity teams to improve and automate our data management tools. The candidate will also provide important oversight and direction for our India Reporting team.
Â· Indirect Spend for Non-ES&P managed suppliers (started with Associations & Memberships to identify non-ES&P managed suppliers being used across UHG).
- Provide spend analysis and ad hoc reporting, including supplier level spend reporting and analysis, key performance indicator (KPI) reporting, metrics definition and data collection to support KPIs; maintenance of these metrics for ongoing tracking.
Â· Research other indicators of savings opportunities, such as:
Â· Analyze suppliers with spend over a certain $ threshold for which enterprise-wide contracts donâ€™t exist.
Â· Analyze price gaps; identify areas where purchase price variances exist (diff between avg price paid and a standard cost).
Â· Analyze supplier counts at various spend thresholds; help to identify where consolidation and rationalization opportunities exist.
Â· Analyze annual spend trends; highlight areas where pricing increases year after year.
Â· Manage data to support analysis of vendor spend data, invoice, account and purchase order details.
- Develop comprehensive reports and spend analyses summarizing procurement spend and savings information to allow ES&P category managers to focus on key cost savings opportunities.
- Effectively utilize third party vendor spend data in identifying spend reduction opportunities.
- Work collaboratively with ES&P category managers to help them achieve run rate cost savings goals.
Â· Build simple system queries to pull data required in analyses.
Â· Work closely with ES&P Reporting team, onshore and offshore, when necessary for data management purposes.
Â· Drive improved data classification efforts and projects, to improve the integrity of our reporting and to more easily identify opportunities.
Â· Support and provide consultation to ES&P customers with requests for spend analysis and data to support their category management plans.
Â· Use Ariba and PeopleSoft to develop new reports and queries as needed.
Â· Prepare reporting to validate compliance with standards & policies.
Â· Identify and implement process improvements.
Other Activities to Support include:
Â· Data Collection, Integration & Refresh - Provide Regular, Predictable Reporting on spend details and structured refresh of category data â€“ Analysis of the spend at highest level of organization, including systematic review of historical purchase data (based on various attributes).
Â· Data Classification â€“ Based on category, with ability to slice various ways
Â· Improve Data Quality â€“ Improved data quality, including spend data standardization & enrichment, supplier normalization and spend categorization.
Â· Ensure Data Integrity â€“ Cleanse data, so that it can be analyzed to gain insight into the spend and identify opportunities for launching the various initiatives identified.
Â· Data management â€“ Continued management of new and improved spend analysis tools to increase spend visibility where lacking. Manage data cubes and data refresh within these cubes.
Â· Reporting â€“ Report on non-compliance with ES&P policies to engage ES&P.
Â· Creation & Support of Category Dashboards â€“ Include spend classified by categories that are meaningful to both ES&P and the business; aggregate other related details such as data on contracts, sourcing events, etc.; identify KPIs that are meaningful at the category level for org performance mgmt.; include data that allows commodity manager to identify areas of non-compliance (no contract in place, no sourcing event done, etc) and opportunities; track performance against current initiatives
