GENERAL DESCRIPTION STATEMENT:|
Perform precision type manual or gas tungsten arc, shielded metal arc welding, brazing, and soldering operations in the fabrication of complex assemblies of nuclear cell housings and control rod mechanisms. Assistance may be given other operators on proper operational procedures. Perform housekeeping and other job related duties as assigned by supervisor.
THE DESCRIPTION AND STATEMENTS MADE HERE INCLUDE THOSE DETAILS NECESSARY TO DESCRIBE THE PRINCIPLE FUNCTIONS OF THE OCCUPATION AND IS NOT TO BE CONSTRUED AS AN ALL-INCLUSIVE LIST OF CHARACTERISTICS THAT ARE INHERENT TO THE JOB/OCCUPATION.
Perform miscellaneous welding of jigs, fixtures, special machine racks and frames, and like items manufactured in a process development group.
Possess a highly developed ability to weld a wide variety of metals completing welding details on materials ranging from heavy machined parts to light sheet metal.
Possess applicable US Government and customer-approved certificates for welding nuclear components.
Perform delicate weld operations on very expensive components and assemblies and other difficult details where specifications provide for no work variation or scrap allowances.
May necessitate the adaptation of available fixtures, require DOD clearance, and work from specific approved procedures, generalized oral instructions, rough sketches or complex blueprints.
Works in close cooperation with weld engineer, weld inspector and other authorized personnel where the process is dictated by weld blueprints, weld procedures and sketches.
Perform chipping, peening and grinding to remove slag inclusions, excess weld, burrs or other pre-post steps required to make an acceptable weld. Inspect all work using appropriate measuring instruments.
Perform other miscellaneous duties within the group such as polishing, burring, hand grinding, clean up, etc. as directed by the supervisor.
Maintain and sign logs and records as appropriate.
Record process information as dictated by customer/Government.
Must be able to become certified to all requirements of Babcock & Wilcox Company contracts pertaining to welding, brazing, and soldering imposed on Babcock & Wilcox Company both now and in the future.
Job Requirements :
Must have 2 plus years of experience in manual and automatic gas tungsten arc and or shield arc welding, and have brazing and soldering skills.
Able to read and interpret complex blueprints, have appropriate personal tools, and the skills necessary to maintain accurate documentation of procedures.
Eligible for applicable security clearances.
Able produce relevant certifications during the interview process, as well as pass in-house welding tests during the interview process.
