Under direction, performs ophthalmic photographic services; produces and maintains high-quality photography and videography media and conducts associated administrative and teaching duties; maintains department photographic and related equipment; makes minor repairs and modifications to equipment, adapting it to various ophthalmic procedures; orders supplies, equipment and services; prepares materials for audio-visual presentations, publications, lectures and exhibitions; presents clinical instruction for technicians, residents and medical students on use and performs various ophthalmic techniques and procedures; provides leadership, ophthalmic expertise and decision making for day to day clinical operations and patient flow; reviews current literature and updates on latest developments/techniques for testing; communicates recommendations for modifications to practice policies and procedures that may improve efficiencies; performs research for development of video system to be used for clinical documentation of patients for teaching purposes and for use at Grand Rounds and other presentations or publications; oversees film processing, slide making, slide duplications and filing, video editing and sorting for clinical programs; trains technicians for upkeep and accuracy of patients photographic files; obtains certification for various clinical research studies; acts as lead person and expert for imaging systems such as OIS, including sufficient understanding to manage duplicates and ensure image capture stations are maintained; performs clinical ophthalmic photography including stereo fluorescein angiography, stereo color and infrared fundus photography, slit lamp biomicrogrpahy, anterior segment flourescein angiography, external head and eye photography and ultrasonography; assists in operating and minor operating photography and videography as needed; modifies equipment for test; trains others in photographic modalities; performs other job related duties as required.

Qualifications

Bachelor of Science degree in related field such as degree in Biomedical Photographic communications and three years of ophthalmic photographic experience required; previous experience in academic medicine and five or more years of ophthalmic photography experience highly desired.
