Role & Function
To efficiently and profitably manage and direct the Ground Support Equipment Department through providing a quality product and service.
To meet and, where possible, improve on the targets, both financial and operational, as set forth in the Budget.
Prepare GSE budget for the following year for approval by Station Manager.
Resource planning of manpower, equipment, parts, and facilities.
Ensure that financial targets are met.
Establish and maintain a high quality standard of the ground support equipment; ensure that work flows are constantly improved to cope with operational requirements.
Ensure that all subcontracted service providers are closely supervised.
Initiate agreements/contracts with new vendors.
Maintain a good working relationship with the various control authorities such as AQMD, Airport Management, Customs, Immigration, etc.
Ensure all Environmental/Hazard regulations are complied with and necessary permits obtained.
Ensure maximum productivity is achieved.
Controlling and Reporting:
Supervise and monitor the financial performance and the quality of service of the GSE Department.
Report relevant data to the Station Manager.
Ensure that all accounts and records of all financial transaction relating to the GSE are reported to the Administration Manager.
Ensure effective planning methods and procedures in place to ensure that there are adequate resources, both manpower and equipment, to meet operational requirements and that these resources are efficiently allocated in line with the operational needs.
Implement, maintain, and closely supervise all safety and security measures related to people, equipment and facilities.
Ensure that there is an efficient and effective communications system between management and the workforce.
Ensure well being of GSE personnel. Maintain high levels of welfare and morale within the Department.
Handling procedures within the given regulatory framework.
Finance competence as authorized by Corporate SOP.
Key Performance Indicators:
Quality targets as set by Swissport and/or as agreed with internal/external customers.
Number of equipment down per hours used.
Injuries versus hours worked.
Maintain EPA requirements.
