This position reports directly to the Supply Chain Manager and is the primary Aerospace interface to suppliers within assigned commodities, including contract negotiation and alternate procurement methodologies. The qualified candidate will have technical competence with regard to a particular commodity and will be responsible for leading Crane Aerospace toward long term strategic relationships with key suppliers. This position carries a high degree of accountability for supplier development and management and commitment of a high level of Aerospace resources to support strategies, goals and objectives. Commodity expertise is to include familiarity with Machining, Castings, Mold Injection, and Coatings .
Responsibilities:
Primary responsibility for nurturing and managing relationships with key suppliers and managing program procurement requirements.
Lead efforts to establish cost effective, long term relationships with key suppliers to optimize total acquisition cost of materials and ensure availability of required materials.
Provide feedback to buyers and product lines with regard to long term contracts, strategic supplier alliances, market trends and improved design requirements that reduce total acquisition cost while enhancing quality.
Develop and communicate knowledge of market trends for assigned commodity, including the development and implementation of plans to address changes/impacts in the marketplace and emerging materiel related management methods.
Utilize objective supplier performance data to drive continuous improvement in supplier base performance, including feedback to suppliers for the commodity and the proactive resolution of issues with suppliers.
Development and negotiate long term procurement contracts for the commodity as required by the Material Support Specialists to support product line production plans.
Function as commodity expert focal point for Crane Aerospace, including as a responsive, effective commodity team member.
Communicate and coordinate with NPI Buyers, Engineers, and outsourcing teams to drive action plans toward achieving business plan.
Actively participate in integrated product development teams providing part/material expertise throughout the process and acting as liaison between supplier and product development teams.
Consolidate Crane Aerospace requirements and ensure flow down to supplier.
Provide prompt resolution of commodity issues raised from the product lines and manufacturing support shops.
Participate in identifying, developing and/or approving alternate suppliers for assigned commodity when appropriate.
Perform planning and buying processes for the commodity as required.
Reduce the supplier base as appropriate (balancing risk and the marketplace).
Drive continuous improvement in purchased material lead times to enhance internal flexibility and customer responsiveness.
Develop and implement innovative raw material inventory and replenishment processes.
Key Performance Indicators: Percentage of suppliers on long term contracts.
Purchase part inventory levels.
Purchase part lead times.
Purchase part total acquisition cost reductions.
On time delivery of purchased parts to product lines
Minimum Requirements: Experience : 5 -10 years experience in procurement, subcontracts management, or other supply chain role.
Knowledge : Solid understanding of material planning and scheduling methods.
Understanding of aerospace quality specifications and comparisons.
Demonstrated ability to develop, negotiate and administer long term contracts.
Broad knowledge of industry practices and innovations related to delivery performance and lead time reduction.

Education / Certification : Bachelors degree or equivalent experience is required. Masters degree preferable. CPM / APICS certification preferred.
Eligibility Requirement : Must be a US Person (under ITAR rules) to be eligible.
Working Conditions:
Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment. Machinery operation requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to safety glasses, heel straps, and shop coats
Requires approximately 20% travel to support customers/suppliers.
Requires lifting up to 25 lbs
