1. JOB PURPOSE
Under general supervision performs routine institutional custodial duties working with skilled custodians. Receives training to comply with the rules and guidelines of OSHA and the Risk Management and Safety and Environmental Health and Safety Office of Clemson University. Rotating weekends required. Possible Wednesday through Saturday set schedule.
2. JOB FUNCTIONS
Performs housekeeping duties, to include sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, scrubbing, polishing floors and furniture on a daily basis in assigned area. Maintains floors by waxing, buffing, dry and wet stripping, utilizing the buffer machine, wet/dry vacuum and roto washer as necessary. Cleans halls, offices, vents, function rooms, and lounges. Collects and removes trash from buildings. Sweeps and cleans stairways, entrances and walkways. Washes windows and door glass; washes and dusts venetian blinds. Cleaning and maintaining of indoor and outdoor recreational facilities to include ball courts, larger showers, lounges, and activity rooms. Cleans all glass, removes cobwebs inside and outside with extension pole and brush. Extracts water from floors and carpeted areas using carpet wet/dry vacuums and/or carpet shampooer/extractor machines. E/75%
Assists in maintaining inventory, ordering and distributing supplies in assigned areas. Requests new products as needed. Keeps abreast of applicable standards and use of equipment in performing job. Inspects restrooms and replenishes supplies of paper towels, sanitary napkins, soap and tissue. Uses chelting agent instead of cleaner-disinfectant periodically for soap scum problems. Notifies supervisor of equipment and facilities needing repair or replacement. E/10%
Assist with on-the-job- training for new custodians in the performance of their duties. Responds to emergency weekend and/or snow callbacks when necessary. E/10%
Performs all other housekeeping duties as requested by supervisor. M/5%
Experience in custodial, housekeeping or pest control work that is directly related to the area of employment.
PREFERRED IN ADDITION TO THE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
High School Diploma and two (2) years of custodial experience.Valid driver's license.
PAY & WORK SCHEDULE:
Standard Hrs: 40; Band: 02 ($ 17,310.00 - $ 32,027.00)
Hours are from 7:30 AM - 3:30 PM M-F
Rotating weekends once every five to six weeks.
Must be dedicated to a "teamwork" approach to the Housing Department. Physical demands: Must be able to ascend/descend stairs, move, transport up to 50 lb., clean, remain in a stationary position, reach, drive, position yourself to squat, move, pull, remove items, kneel, twist, push, sit and communicate. Exposure to: blood, fumes, dirt, chemicals, toxins, hazards, heat/cold, and noise.'
Mental demands: Verbal and written communication, detailed work, customer contact and multiple concurrent tasks.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Knowledge of bloodborne pathogens standards and material safety data sheets. Knowledge and skills of custodial duties and institutional regulation. Ability to perform strenuous manual labor and follow instructions. Knowledge and ability to safely operate equipment and use chemicals.
Incumbent is expected to work with minimal supervision. Perform all houskeeping duties as requested by supervisor.
