Sports Media - Our company's Soccer department is looking for a Marketing and Communications Manager. Under general supervision of the VP of Marketing and Business Development, this role is responsible for the development, implementation and execution of public relations and social media strategies for our company's Soccer Channel and our websites. The manager will identify new opportunities and growth areas for existing platforms, and possess the ability to effectively communicate the unique benefits of services and ensure that all product is produced, quality controlled, distributed accordingly, and promoted effectively. The manager will work closely with the VP of Marketing and Business Development to establish new partnerships that will help solidify our company's Soccer's position as the nation's leading soccer media brand. The manager will liaise with other internal divisions to ensure consistent messaging is communicated across multiple platforms and put network in best position to achieve corporate objectives. This position directly reports to the VP of Marketing and Business Development, as well as to the EVP/GM for special projects. The location for this role is Los Angeles, CA 90025.
Responsibilities:
Collaborate with our company's Sports public relations team and external consultants, working as lead PR contact for all of our company's Soccer media properties, developing and implementing plans and processes to promote programming, content and personnel
Secure exclusive media coverage and leverage talent and executives, placing them for interviews
Cultivate and maintain relationships with national, regional and local soccer beat writers, bloggers and trade media
Keep executives abreast of our company's Soccer's position in the media marketplace identifies successes, trends or cause of concern, which may necessitate crisis management
Manage online marketing initiatives, with a particular focus on social media platforms Facebook and Twitter
Develop strategies to encourage daily user interaction via online touch-points
Oversee production of social media-exclusive multimedia content and stay abreast of industry trends and best practices
Liaise with social media contacts of industry partners, advertisers and affiliates to share content and actively cross-promote, and identify social media influencers who can seed our company's Soccer messaging
Reply to user/viewer inquiries via social media platforms in a customer service-type role
Responsibilities may extend to nights and weekends
Manage day-to-day public relations responsibilities, including but not limited to: draft, edit, coordinate and schedule all news releases, schedule photographers and oversee photo shoots, monitor media distribution service daily and archive our company's Soccer-related press coverage, ensure programming listings across key websites, draft talent/executive bios, talking points and other copy, nominate network executives, programming and initiatives for industry awards
Collate media valuation reports
Editor for bi-weekly company Soccer Flash newsletter, coordinating with current consumer marketing campaigns
Key role in annual budgetary planning
Create and maintain monthly marketing budget accrual spreadsheet to track expenditures during fiscal year
Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
**Must be a SOCCER FAN and have knowledge of the leagues, teams, players, etc.
Bachelor's degree required (preferably in communication, public relations, journalism or marketing)
A minimum of 3 -5 years work experience in public relations, marketing, social media and/or related field. Knowledge of global soccer mandatory
Previous experience in the sports marketing, broadcast/cable television industry, customer service industry a plus
Superior written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills in English are required
Must demonstrate problem solving abilities combined with strong analytical skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and Explorer as well as social media applications (Twitter, Facebook, etc.)
Working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and Acrobat, e-mail blast services (MailChimp, Constant Contact, etc.), high-end photo and video equipment as well as editing software (Final Cup Pro, iMovie, etc.) a plus
Organizational skills with high attention to detail, ability to multitask in a fast paced environment and work effectively under changing priorities with time sensitive materials in a timely and efficient manner and follow through, are required
Frequently required use of hands and fingers to write, manipulate telephone and computer keyboard
Regularly required to hear, talk and use close vision
Staff is required to set up various stages of out-of-office activity for press conferences, soccer expositions, talent appearances
Must be able to lift up to 20 - 40 pounds unassisted
Primarily works in a demanding, fast-paced professional environment, both in office as well as on-site venues (i.e. events, conferences, tradeshows)
