An exciting opportunity exists within a new Human Resources department, of a large base metal start up project in a preferred French Africa location for a Compensation and Benefits Manager reporting to the Director, Human Resources.

The HR department is being formed alongside the start up of operations. Now the initial recruitment phase of personnel is well advanced. The key focus is on organizational development, and facilitating growth by implementing key HR policies and processes. Currently, our client wishes to recruit a seasoned Compensation & Benefits Manager, who will develop and implement worldwide C&B policies, processes and instruments for a large national workforce.

Compensation and Benefits Manager Role

Coach, mentor and supervise Payroll Supervisor along with 2 Payroll Administrators and Compensation & Benefits Coordinator.

Contribute to the development, maintenance and administration of employee compensation programs, including, but not limited to, long and short term incentives, annual base salary, salary surveys, job family compensation evaluations and other programs as required.

Administer all benefit programs, including the timely enrollment of new employees, cancellation of coverage for terminated employees, monitoring and administering the ASO account and communicating with employees regarding plan coverage.

Assist and provide support for the Disability programs and coordinate communications with International Benefits and Global Mobility.

Interact with both internal and external auditors to ensure compliance with legislation and policies.

Assist the Director of Human Resources with various projects including labour statistics and analysis, annual budgeting and other duties as required.

Compensation and Benefits Manager Experience and Skill Set Requirements

7-10 years of professional experience, with Bachelors Degree or equivalent courses in compensation and benefits.

Advanced proficiency in both French and English languages is required for this role.

Experience working directly with international Compensation and Benefits (Africa or 3rd world country) is preferred.

Aptitude to execute strategically to understand the business and network in a global environment.

Skills to effectively build strong relationships within and outside of the organization.

Experience building and managing a high performance team.

Demonstrated ability to gain the trust and credibility of senior management.

Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and recognize cultural diversity.

Demonstrated skills in the area of decision making and dealing with ambiguity.
