This job requires welding with FCAW 1/16
wire in the 1G position and the 3G position, and on some specialty jobs for Heavy Industries customers welding in all six positions may be required.
The welds must pass UT and RT tests and be performed using AWS D.1-1 structural welding codes. Standing and bending for long periods. Use of blueprint reading skills and work instructions to build production parts to print and within customers specifications. Duties also include carbon arcing out of position, fabrication, design build skills, and the ability to build to a print using supplied materials.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
includes but is not limited to the following duties.
Welding with FCAW 1/16
wire, FCAW .045 wire and .045 hard wire.
Blueprint reading, tape measure knowledge, Math skills
Carbon Arcing with 3/8
and 1/2 inch rods
Using a heavy duty grinder
Experience in overhead crane operation

Education and/or Experience:
High school diploma or GED required. 2-5 years of fabrication type welding experience or, completion of an accredited two year welder’s training program with a high degree of overall welding and fabrication skills. Education and experience in manufacturing similar to Wind Tower production. Welding knowledge gained from job experience on manufactured parts or products in metal fabrication industry. Knowledge of materials, production processes, quality programs, raw materials and other techniques. Mastery of effective welding methods and tools involved in the process of fabricating steel support structures, mining and agricultural equipment. Any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education must be approved by Human Resources.
