Cargill's meat business, headquartered in Wichita, KS, is comprised of beef, pork, turkey, value added meats, case ready, distribution and feeder operations. Cargill's meat businesses employ approximately 35,000 worldwide with processing facilities and sales offices in the US, Canada, Australia, China, Honduras, Japan, Korea and Taiwan.
Cargill Pork, LLC is a partner in the Animal Protein Platform of Cargill Incorporated and a leader in the pork industry. Through production contracts with family farmers, Cargill Pork produces more than three million pigs annually. Geographically, Cargill Pork's contract production operations are located in Arkansas, Illinois, Iowa, Missouri, Oklahoma, and Texas.
The Pork Live Production Associate position is responsible for managing various aspects of our live pork production system at our Dalhart, TX location. This position reports to one of our Production Managers. Activities and specific responsibilities include:
Assignments on the site may vary depending upon business need
Responsible for productivity and cost of goods for assigned area
On farm consultation and training for area employees
Management of animal health and treatment of animals under supervision of a veterinarian
Implementation of Best Management Practices
Auditing and associated problem solving
Administrative functions such as inventory management, supply orders, etc.
Management of area staff including handling of discipline issues, training, scheduling, etc.
Environmental and animal welfare oversight and auditing
Associates are expected to follow a schedule to learn the Dalhart production system as a whole. Assignments will vary
Qualifications
Required
A Bachelor’s degree in animal science, agri-business, or other related field
Strong people skills
Strong written and oral communication skills
Self starter who is able to work without close supervision
Open to relocation
Computer knowledge in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook
Right to work in US that is not based solely on possession of a student visa or a visa sponsored by a third-party employer
Preferred
A GPA of 3.0 or higher
