Primarily days Monday-Friday; may be required to work additional hours as needed.
Provide University wide leadership for security planning for the University's major technology systems serving the Lexington Campus and Medical Center. The Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) will report directly to the Chief Information Officer (CIO), and will work closely with the members of the CIO's leadership team as well as the offices of General Counsel, Internal Audit, Risk Management, and Human Resources. Also responsible for conducting comprehensive market reviews of new security approaches for technology. The CISO will implement mitigation actions for overall technology security including the following: information security and information assurance; information compliance; risk management; internal controls for financial and other systems; information privacy; computer security incident response team; identity and access management; IT security architecture; IT investigations, digital forensics and EDiscovery; and disaster recovery and business continuity management. Manage Information Security Operations Center (ISOC), Security Analysts and Security Architect.
Skills / Knowledge / Abilities
Strategic leadership; extensive knowledge of current and upcoming IT security technologies and techniques that cover all levels of IT; management experience; knowledge of the various industry, and government strategies and standards in privacy and security, including Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL), Control Objectives for Information and related Technology (COBIT), International Organization for Standardization (ISO), US National Institute for Standards and Technology (NIST), and others where applicable.
