Job Description:
NHS Human Services, through its subsidiaries is one of
the nations’ leading non-profit providers of
community-based human services. With nationally
recognized programs in multiple states, NHS offers a
full range of integrated services to children and adults
in the areas of mental health, addictive diseases,
autism, intellectual and developmental disabilities,
juvenile justice, treatment foster care, education and
other specialized services.
The Classroom Aide is a school employee who works under
the direction of a certificated staff member to support
and assist in providing instructional programs and
services to children with disabilities or eligible young
children. The support and assistance includes one-on one
or group review of material taught by certificated
staff, classroom management, and implementation of
positive behavioral support plans. Services may be
provided in a special education class, regular class or
instructional setting as provided in the student IEP.

General Responsibilities:
1. Support and assist all student in classroom
2. Prepare lesson materials, bulletin board displays,
exhibits, equipment, etc as assigned by the
classroom teacher
3. Present subject matter and planned lessons to
students under the direction and guidance of teacher
in a group setting
4. Supervise students in designated areas and as
assigned (eg. hallways, bathrooms, cafeterias,
playground, gym, field trips, etc.)
5. Monitor all classroom students performance, and
record relevant data, daily to assess progress
6. Assist children individually or in small groups in
order to help them master and rein force learning
concepts presented by teachers
7. Participate in parent - teacher conferences
8. Assist in bus loading and unloading of students
from transportation
9. Adheres to all NHS Human Services, County, State,
and Federal policies and regulations
10. Complies with NHS Human Services ethics and codes
of conduct, as well as the ethics and code of
conduct of own discipline, in all contact with
clients, co-workers, and the community
11. Participates in NHS Human Services quality
improvement/quality assurance activities
12. Maintains client confidentiality in accordance
with NHS Human Services policies and HIPPA

Classroom Aide must meet one or the following

qualifications to be be considered for this position:
  • Have completed at least 2 years of post secondary
  • Possess an Associates Degree or higher
  • Meet a standard of Quality thru completion of
Credential of Competency for Special Education
Para-educators in Pennsylvania

Must also:
Posses valid PA Driver's License, and access to an
insured motor vehicle for work
