Performs the installation, repair and maintenance of campus wide voice,data and video systems. Activates various telecommunications services as specified in work orders. Install network hardware to include RLI cards in digital switch, wireless access points and Ethernet switches. Installs Category 6 station cable, terminates RJ45 Jacks, terminates S210 wiring blocks and performs certification of station cable to ensure compliance with industry standards. Maintains work order documentation and verifies that 911 information is correct after PBX work orders are completed. Required to operate a state service vehicle.
Must have experience performing installation and repair work on voice, data or video systems. Must be able to communicate effectively and to work independently while maintaining highly accurate documentation. Must be proficient with the use of personal computers, cable testers and electrical multi-meters. Must have a valid Virginia operators license with a good driving record. Entry level training or experience in electronics or telecommunications is required. Must have strong communication and interpersonal skills, and be able to effectively function as a team member. Must be able to work with minimal supervision, and accurately follow oral and written instructions.
