The Music Department at Lynchburg College invites applicants for a tenure-track position beginning in the August 2013.
Candidates should have a PhD or DMA in a music discipline. Individuals should have a background in music performance/conducting and will be expected to oversee the Chamber Music and Jazz Ensemble programs as well as teach courses in beginning/advanced conducting at undergraduate and/or graduate levels. A strong performance history in a woodwind or brass instrument is required.
The successful candidate will strive for teaching excellence, promote student performance, and collaborate with colleagues from diverse disciplines in support of the College’s liberal arts mission, especially in the area of global awareness. Scholarship leading to music performance recitals, conference presentations, and/or peer-reviewed publication is expected. Selected candidate must successfully pass a background check that is satisfactory to the College.
