Job Description:
CANBERRA is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer - Radiation Monitoring Systems product line for our location in Meriden, CT.

Responsibilities and duties include:
Under general supervision, performs broad, complex engineering assignments requiring originality, ingenuity and the development of new methods

Provides advanced technical support related to planning, designing, analyzing, constructing and maintaining structures, systems and components.

Provides engineering advice as needed and displays technical competence requiring minimal direction form higher level engineering staff

Responsible for the overall concept, architecture, design, and development of nuclear radiation detection instruments and accessories

Under supervision, performs product development, interpretation and implementation of customer specifications.

Lead and mentor other electronic and mechanical members of the engineering team.

Provide existing product line support as well as conduct design reviews and cost/time/risk evaluations.

Specify electrical, mechanical and electro-mechanical components.

Analog, digital, and mixed signal detailed design

Design of embedded processors(s)

Data acquisition system design

Generation of complete design release documentation

Cost estimation / analysis

Project scheduling / planning

Circuit and system analysis / simulation

Test procedures, users' manuals generation

Proposal generation


All candidates must meet the following minimum requirements in order to be considered for this opportunity. Candidates who exceed minimum qualifications may be considered for a higher level position.

BS Degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology

3 - 5 years of engineering experience. An advanced degree may be substituted for related experience ( MS 1-2 yrs. Or PhD 1-3 yrs.). In applicable states a PE License will be accepted in lieu of a 4 yr. engineering degree.

Advanced knowledge of related engineering standards, techniques and criteria

Good communication skills including the ability to comprehend and convey detailed technical data

Ability to develop and maintain good interpersonal relationships

Strong problem identification and problem solving skills

Prior experience in the Nuclear or Military industry. Knowledge of Military specifications, environments, and qualification testing.

Familiarity with design approaches for EMI/EMC management

Knowledge of SPI, I2C, UART, USB, Ethernet interfaces

Familiar with low-power high voltage power supply design

Closed-loop design and stability analysis

Low-noise amplifier design

ORCAD schematic design

Worst-case analysis

Knowledge of radiation detection techniques and sensors

Proficient computer skills including Excel, Word, Project and Powerpoint

Cost estimation and analysis experience

Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects
