Special Information:
The Montana Mental Health Nursing Care Center is a licensed residential facility for the long term care and treatment of persons who have a mental disorder and who require a level of care not available in the community, but who cannot benefit from the intensive psychiatric treatment available at Montana State Hospital. However, the Center may discharge residents who can function in, or benefit from, community settings.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
Agility and muscular coordination to move around quickly. Heavy work with occasional lifting of a maximum of 50 pounds, pushing and pulling buffers.

SCHEDULE:
40 hrs/week
Schedule may vary according to facility needs.

Duties:
The Custodian is responsible for the cleaning of the building, equipment, and furnishings to maintain a clean, comfortable and home-like environment for residents with mental disorders. Cleans and maintains assigned area to ensure sanitation and a pleasant appearance, by following housekeeping policies and procedures.

Competencies:
Working knowledge of custodial equipment, basic procedures and cleaning techniques; knowledge of cleaning agents/chemicals and of the effects of such products on materials and persons. Skills with custodial equipment. Muscular coordination. Ability to perform moderate to heavy physical activity. Ability to communicate orally, to read and write. Ability to climb and work from ladders or scaffolding. Ability to work for prolonged periods while standing. Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, etc. as needed to perform various tasks. Ability to follow instructions. Ability to maintain working relationships with other staff and with residents.

Education/Experience:
Completion of eighth grade and two years experience in custodial work OR any combination of equivalent education and experience.
