Summary
Consistent with the Christian mission and Hope for Life Vision of the YMCA of Middle Tennessee, and in cooperation with other YMCA staff, under the direction of the Director of Member Relationships, the Member Services Associate will assist the member service team in the overall delivery of excellent customer service to all members and guests of the branch. The Member Services Associate will be responsible for the sale of memberships, responding to member and guest needs, and maintaining cleanliness and organization at the Membership Desk.

Required Skills
Education / Experience Required: •
Minimum 18 years of age •
High school diploma or equivalent preferred •
Previous customer service experience preferred

Certifications Required: •
Pre-hire: complete YMCA of Middle TN application for employment, new hire packet and Praesidium Child Abuse Detection / Prevention training •
Before start of first shift: CEO part 1 and BBP training •
Within 30 days of hire: Unity training

Responsibilities •
Model the YMCA character values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility through your actions and conversation with members; model the “New Way to Work”. •

Relate to the public, both on phone and in person, providing excellent service to members, guests, and participants. •

Handle the sale of all programs, classes, memberships, and retail items. •

Process membership and registration paperwork accurately and input information into the computer in a timely manner. •

Remain knowledgeable in all programs, class schedules, and membership information and keep adequate supplies of information available. •

Understand and enforce all YMCA policies dealing with member services. •

Operate cardmaker system, Unity, digital camera, cash register, fax machine, copier, telephone system, and perform routine filing. •

Provide facility tours to new and prospective members. •

Monitor the locker room every ½ hour and report cleaning issues. •

Answer incoming calls to the branch and record reservations accurately. •

Handle and resolve membership complaints; inform supervisor of unusual situations or unresolved issues.
