CVS Caremark is seeking a Senior Analyst in the Payroll Tax department to assist in the governance function of the outsourced Payroll Tax Service Provider (IBM) as it pertains to CVS’ Payroll Tax compliance.
This position is fast-paced, providing the right individual with an opportunity for career advancement. We are seeking a candidate who possesses strong analytical skills, an ability to formulate key insights from data, and solid judgment that reflects the actions consistent of a business owner.
The major challenges of this position are developing and maintaining a working relationship with the Service Provider while insuring the controls and reviews are in place to protect CVS’s exposure. This position requires the ability to research and resolve issues and discrepancies while working with the Service provider in a fast paced, due date oriented environment. Time management, analytical thinking, logic, communication skills and experience are preferred. Required Qualifications:
5+ Years of payroll tax related experience Must possess the strong written and verbal communication skills Must possess strong analytical and problem solving skill and be PC competent in a Windows environment including Excel, Word, etc Preferred Qualifications:
This position requires a proven self-starter, with demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision as well as demonstrated outstanding follow-through skills, and the potential to be able to develop and coordinate payroll tax controls and compliance processes. The candidate must be able to demonstrate a high level of proficiency with Oracle PeopleSoft application with the ability to create queries to deliver adhoc reports in support of the Corporate Tax function. Organize and analyze data, prepare reports, and other audit ready work papers using Microsoft Access, Excel or other software solutions Reviewing payroll tax payments and returns, tracking and analyzing penalty and interest payments Reviewing responses to Federal State and Local Taxing authorities by our Service Provider Reconciling the payroll tax accounts to the General Ledger and judgment review Oversight of the Garnishment process including the funding and reconciliation of garnishment payments Review and Reconciliation of stock option activity including preparation of journal entries for the General Ledger Excellent time management and organization skill Working knowledge of Federal, State and Local withholding tax rules and regulations Fundamental Payroll Certification or Certified Payroll Professional Liaise with Human Resources and Payroll departments to ensure approved and authorized payroll adjustments are accurately implemented in the payroll system and to conduct required payroll tax research and related projects Knowledge of Empower (Sage) system preferred Education:
