POSITION #1 Metallurgist We are seeking a metallurgist to work with Project Managers, Technical Staffand customers to evaluate and analyze material concerns associated with our process andapplications. Recommend and evaluate appropriate processing conditions for new materials toachieve the required properties. Evaluate and analyze metal alloys in response to the processto further the understanding and implementation of the effect of alloy heat treatment,microstructure and composition on the alloy properties. Responsibilities and Duties:* Report directly to the Product Engineering Manager* Participate in projects as requested by Project Managers* Analyze product failure data and laboratory test results to determine causes ofproblems and develop solutions* Monitor material performance and evaluate material behavior* Supervise the work of technologists and technicians as requested* Design and direct the testing or control of processing procedures, as requested* Evaluate technical specifications and economic factors relating to process or productdesign objectives, as requested* Conduct or supervise tests on raw materials or finished products to ensure theirquality, as requested* Contribute to preparation of proposals, budgets, and written reports* Participate in planning and evaluating new projects, consulting with other engineersand corporate executives as necessary* Review new product or process plans and make recommendations for processingconditions and specifications based on design objectives, such as specificmechanical or physical property enhancements, surface finish, and cost Education/Experience:* Minimum of a B.S. degree in Metallurgical Engineering or Materials Science with 2 ormore years experience in the field of research and application of metals and alloys. M.S.or Ph.D. degree with at least 5 years of experience preferred.* Knowledge of shock wave interactions and/or fatigue in metals is highly desirable.* US Citizen, able to qualify for United States Department of Defense secret clearance---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Position # 2MATERIALS ENGINEER/ METALLURGICAL ENGINEER75-95K** Metals Manufacturing Experience RequiredDuties: Product Development (~65%):Manage new product development orders, files, and documentation with the goal to drive assigned products through feasibility, validation, pilot, and production reviews. This includes quotation assistance, confirmation of drawings, development of manufacturing routings, review of bill of materials, development or modification of manufacturing procedures, and determination of quality checks for the process.Will also team with internal and external resources to develop product specifications, raw material sources, production processes, etc. to ensure successful product introduction and transition of products to manufacturing.Will deliver prototype parts on time and within cost constraints.Primary focus will be on Refractory Metals (Powder or Wrought) and Silicon.Support purchasing activities for the qualification of new suppliers. Provide technical analysis of supplier capabilities and manage technical evaluation of materials and services to be provided. Work with the purchasing department in the discovery and development of potential new suppliers.Technical Customer Support (~25%): Serve as highly effective technical resource to the customer in resolving "returned goods' issues, assisting the sales force with presentations and supplying the customer with product data or other information of a technical nature.Manufacturing Support (~10%): Reviewing product non-conformances. Work with others to help them understand and evaluate special customer requirements and SPC requirements.Occasionally assist with expediting orders. Qualifications: BS in Materials Science or Metallurgy plus 5+ years directly related industrial experience with the processing of high purity metals and alloys. MS in same discipline plus 2+ years of same related experience will also satisfy this requirement. A strong background in metallurgy is essential, particularly with melting and powder metal consolidation processes and with mechanical deformation. Must effectively manage and complete multiple concurrent projects for multiple customers (internal as well as external). Willingness to travel on an occasional basis domestically and internationally, sometimes with little advance notice.
