Our Technology Services Group plays an instrumental role in helping to achieve these designations. We have an exciting opportunity for a Programmer Analyst II to join our team either in person or remotely.

Basic Function: Support Carilion’s hallmarks of service excellence and qu ality for all job responsibilities. Responsible for performing installation, upgrading, testing, maintenance, and customization of vendor applications and web/integration services on a variety of hardware platforms. Gathers requirements, performs analysis, develops and maintains new programs and applications. Serves as a liaison between TSG groups, clients and vendors.

Minimum Qualifications Required:

Education:

High school degree required. Associates/Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, healthcare business or equivalent experience required.

Experience:

Minimum of three years of relevant experience. Desire experience with Integration Engine and
experience with Epic Bridges.

- Proficient in one or more programming languages, Java preferred.

- Proficient with HL7 or SQL.

- Advanced knowledge of Unix/Linux or Microsoft Windows commands and shell or batch scripts.

- Experience with table creation and structure for multiple databases as required.

- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications such as Office, Project, Visio, SharePoint.

- Orion Health Rhapsody Integration Engine

Licenses, Certifications and/or Registrations:

Maintains application vendor certifications as needed. ITIL V3 Certification preferred. Valid VA driver’s license.

Other Minimum Qualifications:

R equires rotating on-call responsibilities and carrying a pager/cell phone. Position requires irregular and weekend work hours, with occasional overnight travel. Presents ideas and instructions clearly, verbally and in writing using appropriate presentation tools as needed.Uses proper grammar and punctuation. Practices reflective listening skills. Demonstrates ability to monitor and track highly detailed and moderately complex projects, systems, and data.Completes assigned projects within required timeframes. Monitors and reports progress to team lead. Develops meeting agendas and facilitates project team meetings. Demonstrates courteous,timely, and professional approach in dealing with clients and co-workers. Follows up with clients on unresolved problems.Demonstrates the ability to be a team member by working successfully with internal and external clients. Plans and works on joint projects, and coordinates with others to achieve objectives.Serves as a member of multiple project teams, taking direction from leadership. Does not breach privacy and confidentiality of patients or staff. Demonstrates accountability for self-development by completing annual development, and required inservice education plans. Completes annual professional development and required in-service education.
