Job Summary

The Senior Database Developer is responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of operational and reporting database systems. The Senior Developer constructs and understands conceptual, logical, and physical data models and develops and maintains business logic within stored procedures and ETL transformations. This person should have in depth knowledge of Oracle Databases in Unix/Linux environments, Expert skills with Oracle 10/11g development, Shell and Perl scripting skills. OCP certification is a plus.

Principal Responsibilities:

· Design and implementation of new databases and modifications of existing databases (perform data modeling, data architecture, schema management, data object management and other necessary activities)

· Design, implement and maintain data loading scripts/programs

· Monitor and maintain availability, reliability and overall health and solution delivery of databases

· Troubleshoot/Resolve any database issues

· Tune and optimize overall database performance including tuning of database processes, SQL, table/index design, partitioning.

Functional Skills:

· Oracle 11g

· Oracle EXADATA

· PL/SQL

· SQL*LOADER

· SQLPlus, stored procedures, triggers, functions

· Mysql 5.x

· Oracle Warehouse Builder, Oracle APEX

· Experience with commercially available/open source ETL tools

Experience and Qualifications:

· Bachelors Degree required

· 7+ years of working in VLDB Oracle environment with specialization in developing applications using PL/SQL

· 7+ years in PL/SQL including stored procedures, packages, functions and triggers

· 5+ years experience working in a UNIX, Linux and Windows operating systems

· 2+ years experience with MySQL 5.x

· 3+ years experience in UNIX/Linux shell scripting and PERL

· Experience with Oracle development tools like SQL *Developer, PL/SQL Developer

· Experience with Data Modeling tolls like ErWin or DeZign

· Experience with operation systems and scripting – (Unix/Linux)

· Experience with commercially available/open source ETL tools

· Experience with troubleshooting, performance optimization

Personal Attributes:

· Must have a collaborative attitude

· Candidate must be able to own a solution from design to delivery with minimal direction from management

· Ability to multi-task and push forward multiple projects simultaneously

· Excellent communication and critical thinking/problem solving skills are essential

· Efficient time management and ability to prioritize tasks are a must

· Work usually performed between 8:30 and 5:30 in business office environment. Minimal (if any) travel is expected
