Cafe Dupont now has an excellent opportunity available for a Restaurant Manager to join our management team.
Café Dupont at The Dupont Circle Hotel reflects the French influence on Washington's past and the sophistication of the local Dupont Circle neighborhood. The modern French Brasserie menu transforms the pure, organic produce of our neighborhood farmers' market into healthy, irresistible, French-tinged dishes, served in a friendly, fashionable environment.
Manages, directs and organizes restaurant operation to maintain high standards of food and beverage quality, service and marketing to maximize profits through outstanding customer service.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO):
20% Interviews, selects, trains, supervises, counsels and disciplines restaurant staff for the efficient operation of the outlet. Organizes and conducts pre-shift and department meetings communicating pertinent information to the staff, such as house count and menu changes. Schedules and directs staff in their work assignments.
15% Interacting with guests during their meals and insure their satisfaction. Have small talk with guests and make them feel welcome. Overlook the servers and check if service is delivered as per restaurant standards.
15% Maximizes restaurant department profitability; implements effective controls of beverage and labor costs and monitors the restaurant's budget to ensure efficient operations, including achieving budgeted. Evaluates cost effectiveness of all aspects of operations. Develops and implements cost saving and profit enhancement measures.
20% Maintain proper set-up of dining room and enforce uniform and grooming standards of all service personnel on a daily basis. Assign stations to service staff.
15% Conduct daily roll call meetings to keep staff informed of current promotions, daily specials, guest comments, daily events and pertinent memos.
10% Receive, record and make any necessary arrangements for reservation and special functions in the restaurant.
5% Perform opening and closing duties. Assist other with side work to include cleaning, stocking and folding napkins.
Perform other duties as requested, such as carrying coffee and/or tea pots throughout outlet, refilling guests' cups as requested, handling special guest requests and ensuring guest satisfaction.
Maintain an open line of communication between guests, management and service staff.
Attend required meetings.
Promote the restaurant, create special events, network and act as PR person for the restaurant.
SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY
Knowledge of restaurant operations, to include appropriate staffing levels, service equipment and guest relations.
Ability to read the English language to fully comprehend guest requests, memos, reservations, promotional materials, event orders and similar written materials.
Ability to speak the English language sufficient enough to conduct small employee meetings to impart new information.
Ability to remember, recite and promote the variety of menu items.
Ability to move throughout a crowded room to seat guests.
Ability to effectively deal with customer complaints and concerns in a friendly and positive manner. This involves listening to the nature of the concern, demonstrating empathy with the customer and providing positive and proactive solutions.
