Regular, Full-Time, RCUH Non-Civil Service position with the University of Hawai¿i Maui College (UHMC), for the Rural Hawai¿i 1 (RH1) Project, located in Kahului, Maui, Hawaii. Continuation of employment is dependent upon program/operational needs, satisfactory work performance, availability of funds, and compliance with applicable Federal/State laws.
MINIMUM MONTHLY SALARY: $2,024/Mon.
DUTIES: Assists and supports operational duties at CareerLink Center. Acts as a liaison with Coop Instructor and Internship Coordinator to follow up with procedures established with our business partners regarding student internships and job placement of UHMC students; independently tracks student placement and employment, and coordinates graduate data for Coop Instructor. Assists in the maintenance of the present CareerLink website. Learns and operates CareerLink Online at UHMC, disseminates information and assists with training of students, faculty, and business partners with CareerLink Online. Assists with workshops, training sessions and briefings about internships and job opportunities with students and faculty members. Provides support and direction to assist other academic programs with career assistance and outlook of local/national employment market trends. Publicly speaks and provides information of current labor market and employment trends with students, faculty, and the community. Assists with planning and coordinating a career job fair on campus for current students, graduates, and alumni. Assists with the solicitation and outreach to business partners and other organizations to participate and provide employment search opportunities for students and the community.
PRIMARY QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION: Associate’s Degree from an accredited community college. EXPERIENCE: At least three (3) years of progressively responsible and professional experience in an educational or social services setting. Must have some experience providing academic counseling and/or other direct client services including but not limited to administering/interpreting personality/career assessment inventories, career planning and transfer. ABIL/KNOW/SKILLS: Basic knowledge of career guidance/counseling and employability development practices and resources. Basic knowledge of practices and resources available to assist students to overcome barriers to employment and other post-secondary education transitional options. Basic knowledge of post-secondary education programs, the practices and procedures for transferring into such programs. Must have excellent interpersonal skills and work well with others. Must have a thorough understanding of the world of work and up-to-date information about trends that affect the employment outlook. Able to examine information and arrive at solutions or recommendations and/or take appropriate action. Ability to establish and maintain accurate records and files, including computerized data files. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Must possess strong computer software skills with commonly used professional software programs. Must possess a valid driver’s license and personal insured vehicle. Post Offer/Employment Condition: Must be able to pass a post offer criminal background check.
SECONDARY QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four (4) year college or university in Counseling and Guidance, College Student Personnel Services, Human Resources, Communications or related field. Experience with externally funded projects, grant data tracking, report writing, and social network skills.
