Will serve as a resource on preconception health for adolescents and young adults, answering questions and encouraging adolescents to seek preconception health care and support for behavioral changes that would improve preconception health, and assisting them with referrals to IHS and Tribal programs that provide services that would support preconception health. The Adolescent Health Coordinator will be under the direct supervision of the OST NARCH Project Coordinator.

Present study, its aims and activities and other importance of preconception health to the community and to individuals. Implement Adolescent Health curriculum to participating school students. May be required to present and/or maintain project booth periodically at school staff meetings and parent/teacher conferences. Disseminate information that is available on IHS medical services related to preconception health within the community and to participating school students throughout Pine Ridge reservation.

Prepare monthly reports on planning and implementation of activities conducted, problems encountered and resolutions. Implement community awareness of preconception health campaign, organizing events, seminars and participating in tribal community and health fair activities. Provide outreach activities associated with the campaign, including; maintaining project booth at events, tribal radio shows, and presenting to target populations. Maintain a good working relationship with Principal Investigator, Project Coordinators, and assist when needed.

Assist project coordinator with project activities, including; organizing events, representing the project at forums, and maintaining the Tribal Working Group. Maintain confidential information. Attend program related meetings and conferences on and off reservation. Other related duties as assigned by OST NARCH Director and Project Coordinator.

Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Health related field and extensive experience working in a health related program. Master’s Degree preferred. Must have a minimum of three (3) years experience in the research field. Must have the ability to interact with study participants, stakeholders, and represent the project in a friendly, courteous and professional manner.

Must be highly organized and motivated and have the ability to carry out responsibilities without day-to-day supervision. Must have good office automotive skills, including Word, PowerPoint and Excel. Must have a valid Driver’s License. Must be able to pass background checks relevant to job-related responsibilities (i.e.

unsupervised contact with project target population). Must complete HIPAA training within ninety (90) days of hire. Indian Preference applies.
