Child Study and Treatment Center is a 47 bed Joint Commission accredited psychiatric hospital, providing inpatient care for children and adolescents from across the State of Washington. We are located in the city of Lakewood, near Tacoma and Steilacoom.
This recruitment will be used to fill a full time, ACTING position located in Administration. The position’s work schedule is days with Saturday and Sunday off.

Directs, coordinates, manages, and supervises nursing care staff, i.e. Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, and Psychiatric Child Care Counselors. Responsible for recruitment and hiring of nursing services personnel. Responsible for centralized staffing of patient cottages. Directs, coordinates, manages, and supervises Registered Nurses responsible for the hospital's Staff Development, Employee Health, Infection Control, and Utilization Review services. Responsible for monitoring the budget and resources for Nursing Services. Provides input into the hospital's budget process. Develops and implements policies and procedures necessary to administer effective and efficient nursing services that are compliant with State, Federal and Joint Commission standards.
DESIRABLE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
A Bachelor's degree involving major study in nursing and five years of professional nursing experience, including four years as a nursing supervisor.
Possession of a current WA state license to practice as a registered, professional nurse.
Knowledge of: Professional Nursing Standards; Pediatric/Adolescent growth & development; Psychiatric Nursing theories and techniques; mental health concepts, group dynamics, social psychiatry, and theories of learning; leadership, decision making and team building principles and strategies; State and Federal laws & regulations relating to the provision of patient care in a hospital setting.
Ability to: Hire and mentor nursing and counseling staff; provide training in patient care procedures and standards; use nursing judgment and critical thinking skills. Understand the application of principles of the biological, physical and social sciences; work with a multidisciplinary team, recognizing the authority and responsibilities of other disciplines; write policy and practice guidelines relevant to nuring functions; participate in teh budgetary process; creatively problem solve.

This position is designated as an emergent position. Under the DSHS Emergency Operations Plan, the incumbent may be required to perform the following during a recognized emergency: Report for duty on short notice for a specified timeframe. Report for duty outside of normally scheduled work hours and work days. Report to a duty station that is different from the official duty station. Perform work tasks outside the normal scope of duties reflected in the position description form. During a recognized emergency, the duties may be different from normal duties and will be temporary in nature, lasting only as long as necessary to resume normal operations.
Must participate in routine employee health screening.
