The University of West Florida invites applications for the position of Document Imaging Specialist, position #120490. The Specialist will be responsible for the scanning of paper documents and images and uploading the digitized data into electronic databases and to contracted vendors. They will be responsible for operating network-based and local scanners for use in the creation of electronic files and/or archives from original paper-based documents and images. They will prepare, scan, and quality check documents/images being converted to electronic/digital format.The Specialist will be responsible for ensuring proper transfer and indexing of scanned images to university databases and vendors. They will perform a daily check of computers and scanners to ensure the highest possible quality of scanned documents and images by confirming all settings and calibrations are correct prior to scanning and uploading. Problems pertaining to the document imaging process or data file transfer and uploading process will be reported to a supervisor and scanning is suspended until a resolution is found. The Specialist will be involved in recommending scanning and archival strategies for improvement of the university's document imaging process and procedures.The successful candidate will possess a minimum of a high school diploma and three years of work related experience. Appropriate college coursework or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience. Past experience with document imaging is highly desirable, as is advanced knowledge of records management, procedures and practices. Must have very good computer skills and knowledge of scanning device configuration and operating procedures.
