Public Information Officer Training Specialist

Duties and responsibilities include the following:
Conducts on-site training to headquarters and county health department public information officers actively engaged in public health preparedness and emergency operations. Successful candidate will have knowledge and understanding of Incident Command Structure (ICS). Experience as a Public Information Officer and in disaster response and crisis and risk communications required.
Responsible for update of all current public information officer training courses as well as development and review process.
Responsible for promotion and delivery of new training onsite and virtually.
Provides assistance to statewide public information officers for all training needs and assists in planning, development, and execution of crisis and emergency risk communications (CERC) components for public information officers for disaster exercises and special projects. Serves as responder in Emergency Support Function (ESF) 8 at the State Emergency Operations Center during disaster response.
In the event of an emergency, this office is required to perform emergency operations functions. You may be required to work during or beyond your normal work hours.
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and two (2) years of professional experience in crisis and emergency risk communications training, adult education, or staff development. Professional or nonprofessional experience in training, adult education, staff development can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education.
Annual Salary: $40,000 plus benefits package
