As a certified medical coder with McKesson, you will be responsible for coding pathology cases using CPT4 and ICD-9 and knowledge of medical terminology and human anatomy. Specifically, you will:
- Code and enter data from hard copy or image copy.
- Abstract clinical information from a variety of medical records and assign appropriate ICD 9 CM and/or CPT codes to patient records according to established procedures.
Additional Knowledge & Skills
- 3+ years'work experience
- minimum of 6 months' previous coding experience required
- previous pathology medical coding experience required
- ten-key by touch required; minimum 8,000 to 10,000 kph
- medical terminology and human anatomy
- knowledge of ICD-9 and CPT4
- candidate must pass Internal Certification Test (SCC)
- Excellent overall knowledge of coding
- Helps train and/or check work of Level 1 coders and answers questions of other coders.
- National coding certification preferred
- High School Diploma or equivalent
