Gathers, maintains, formats, compiles, and analyzes technical data for engineering and scientific research, design, development, test, evaluation, implementation, and support of products, services, and processes. Applies specialized knowledge and judgment with prescribed methods and develops and maintains various analytical tools in order to understand behavior of products, services, and processes. Compares product capabilities and performance to requirements. Documents findings in reports and data, such as specifications, drawings, manuals, test procedures, and standards. Interfaces with management, engineers and scientists, process owners, team members, marketing and sales, customers, and suppliers to provide schedule and project status, and ensure that requirements for analytical data are fulfilled.
Apply hands-on experience with composite lay-up (hand and/or automated methods), tooling methods, production procedures, composite material types/forms, and engineering requirements to evaluate and enhance processes, products, and materials. Experience with machine shop type equipment and ability to design, fabricate, and validate detail components for unique composite equipment through design, prototyping and development. Applicant should have 4-10 years applicable experience in aerospace composite product manufacturing technology, composites manufacturing R&D, nonmetallic materials and processes, and/or composite product/process development field. Specific knowledge of manual and automated composite manufacturing technologies such as fiber tow placement, filament winding, composite tooling and associated processes is desired. Ability to design, develop, verify, and implement experimental technologies and improvements to established technologies for aerospace end-item products and processes. Ability to implement concepts and designs, analyze prototype systems, equipment, tooling and processes, and verify compliance with customer requirements, company policy, procedures and guidelines, and governmental regulations. Ability to determine the feasibility of new design, modeling, and fabrication techniques, as well as investigate and analyze problems in order to restore the quality and functionality of products and processes.
Experience supporting production implementation of composite manufacturing process improvements or IR&D/CR&D initiatives. Applicant should have experience supporting the execution of detailed project plans (tasks, schedule, and budget), and effectively communicate the status and results of the technology development.
Ability to participate in the development and implementation of manufacturing concepts, specialized equipment, related software, and production-ready manufacturing processes. Must assure project complies with customer requirements, specifications, company policies, and related governmental regulations.
Some travel may be required to fulfill job requirements. Must be able to coordinate/collaborate with international partners to transfer or enable emerging fabrication technologies. Must be U.S. Citizen or permanent U.S. Resident.
Must possess written and verbal skills necessary to be able to effectively work within an integrated product team environment. Applicant must possess teaming skills, interpersonal social skills, strong ethics, and good work habits. Experience with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is required.
NOTE: This Composites Analyst will report to Manufacturing R&D for A350 Program. Will be expected to relocate to North Carolina and may include cross-training at Wichita. Travel required - supporting suppliers, North Carolina, France, Prestwick UK. A bachelor or associates degree in a technical field is preferred.
