Job Description:

Personal Care Aide:
NHS Human Services is looking for a Classroom
Aide/Personal Care Aide for our Ellsworth School for
Autism to work one on one with children with special
needs in a classroom setting.

General Responsibilities:
  • Discuss assigned student with classroom teacher in
order to coordinate instructional efforts.
  • Present subject matter and planned lessons to the
assigned student under the direction and guidance of
the teacher.
  • Assist assigned student in small groups in order to
help them master and reinforce learning concepts
presented by teachers.
  • Supervise student in designated areas and as
assigned (e.g hallways, bathrooms, cafeterias,
playground, gym, field trips, etc).
  • Be a positive role model for all students in
assigned classroom and within the entire school.
  • Monitor student performance, and record relevant
data to assess progress.
  • Provide assistance one on one to student assigned.
  • Organize and supervise student assigned to you
during any special activities, games, etc.
  • Participate in parent - teacher conferences if
requested by the school.
  • Assist in bus loading and unloading.
  • Attend staff meetings, professional development
activities, trainings and conferences as
needed/requested by the school.
  • Follow through with classroom behavior management
system as well as individualized reinforcement
systems for individual student assigned to you.
  • Accompany designated child to bathroom and assist in
toileting and grooming.
  • Participate in outside activities with the NHS
Autism School daily.
  • Other duties as assigned.
NHS is an EOE.

Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED is required
  • Teaching degree is preferred
  • Experience dealing with children on the Autism
Spectrum is preferred
