The Governor Morehead School is the state’s residential school serving students with vision loss in grades K-12. Academic courses, Occupational Course of Study, Expanded Core Curriculum and Life Skills are offered depending on the needs of each student. Provide instruction to students with vision loss and to students with multiple disabilities. Depending on the need the assignment could be with students having visual impairments in academic content areas or occupational course of study/life skills classes. Length of assignment will vary depending on circumstances.
This is a temporary Substitute Teacher position. Working hours are Monday-Friday.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies:
Ability to quickly establish rapport with students and other staff to provide effective instruction; ability to work with limited supervision and to work as a team member; ability to review IEPs and implement individual goals; ability to implement instruction using lesson plans and the ability to develop lesson plans; knowledge of vision impairments and instructional methods for special needs students helpful
This position is subject to a criminal background check and drug testing.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
NC Teacher Certification; experience as a classroom teacher
