Linux System Administrator, Senior-01131114
Perform technical engineering and system administration to support remote computing at DoD computer centers. Provide unclassified and classified Linux system administration support using DoD IA policies and procedures for computer systems, disk subsystems, networks, archive subsystems, security, and information assurance. Provide system administration-level UNIX and Linux expertise with demonstrated progressively advanced skills necessary to support complex large-scale systems, including Linux clusters. Support projects pertaining to uniform node provisioning, including rocks, integration management, including CFEngine, Information Assurance (IA) patch installation and problem resolution, cluster assembly, and complex problem solving in an MPI environment. Manage Quality of Service levels, IA patches file-systems, thermal issues, defective nodes, hardware and software upgrades, and user problems stemming from hardware and software issues. Provide the technical engineering and system administration engineering services required to successfully automate and execute operational parallel processing jobs on remote DoD supercomputing assets. Provide ongoing monitoring and troubleshooting support for operational parallel jobs that have been submitted to remote DoD supercomputing assets and the associated input and output data transfers. This position is located in Monterey, CA.
-5+ years of experience with system administration
-Experience with UNIX and Linux systems administration
-Experience with TCP/IP
-Experience with Infiniband or other High Performance Computing (HPC) interconnection technologies, networking concepts, procedures, and security implications
-Experience with Job Clusters, including PBS Pro and Message Passing Interface (MPI) software, such as Intel MPI or Platform MPI
-Knowledge of the computer architectures used to support complex supercomputer centers
-Ability to obtain a security clearance-BA or BS degree required-CISSP or Security + Certification required
-Linux Certification, including Linux+, Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE), or Red Hat Certified Systems Administrator (RHCSA) required
-Experience with the Navy METOC community preferred
-Experience with enterprise-level projects a plus
-Experience with office administration
-Knowledge of the Microsoft Windows Office products-Possession of excellent organizational skills-Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills
