We are looking to recruit an Assistant Accountant to support the Information Technology/ Information Management (IT/IM) organisation. The role forms part of a small finance team, which looks after all financial matters of the Marine and Technology IT/IM function, across the 4 main sites.
Maintaining accurate records of all M&T expenditure around IT, ensuring the correct allocation of those costs in accordance with current QMAC guidelines.
Support the production of budgets and forecasts for IT/IM for all Capital Expenditure items.
Prepare balance sheet account reconciliations in a timely manner.
Administer the IT Cost recharge process, ensuring all costs are recharged to the correct site / business unit, to the agreed timetables. Specifically, but not limited to:
o Babcock Corporate Services recharges.
o Telecoms expense.
o Printing expense.
o Travel and Subsistence.
Producing reports for IT Capital Expenditure Projects and working with the project managers to ensure costs are under control.
Producing and distributing accurate and timely cost reports to Cost Centre Managers.
Assist with the review and investigation of SRNI balances over 6 months old and un-cleared invoices over 1 month old for Company 25.
Support internal and external audit activities as appropriate.
Play an active part in finance initiatives and process improvements.
Assist other members of the IT/IM Finance team as and when required.
Other Ad hoc accounting tasks as appropriate.
Qualifications, Skills, Key Behaviours & Experience
AAT Qualified and/or qualified by experience.
Experience of IFS would be an advantage.
High quality standards and attention to detail.
Good interpersonal skills with ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
Good organisational skills.
Sound accounting knowledge.
Ability to explain financial issues to non-financial managers.
Takes a proactive approach to work.
Flexible attitude towards assigned duties and shifting deadlines.
