At the direction of the Store Manager or Manager On Duty (MOD), works in all functional areas of the store. Participates in off-site activities with the District Manager and completes the prescribed curriculum.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (include but are not limited to the following):
Completes curriculum activities and seeks additional resources, as needed, to complete those activities.
Utilizes all available resources to become familiar with local competition, industry trends, and store-level communications and reports. Participates in analyzing trends and identifying opportunities.
Provides customer service and adheres to company customer service standards.
Participates in all operational aspects of the store including hands-on activities like freight flow, merchandise presentation, and regular cleaning and maintenance.
Assists MOD with directing day to day operational activities.
Observes reconciliation of sales, cash and inventory transactions as performed by a member of management.
Assists with interviewing, selecting, hiring, and training new associates, as needed.
Completes Store Associate and Associate Manager training as prescribed by the curriculum and executes responsibilities of each position at the direction of the Store Manager or MOD.
Reviews the disciplinary counseling process with the Store Manager and requests examples or mock situations which reinforce an understanding of this process.
Participates in scheduling and payroll processes on a daily and weekly basis at the direction of the Store Manager. Complies with privacy standards for associate information and compensation.
Takes a proactive approach to maintaining the appearance of the store’s interior and exterior, including both shelved and backroom merchandise.
Works with the MOD to minimize shrink and maintain safety standards.
Assumes responsibility for assigned area when directed by the Store Manager or MOD.
Participates in off-site events such as grand opening or store promotions as directed by the District Manager.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Entering the final semester or quarters of a two-year or four-year degree program required -or- recent college graduate with an Associate or Bachelor degree required.
Ability to work full-time at the completion of the program required.
Previous customer service experience preferred.
Mobility to move freely throughout sales floor and stockroom on a continual basis throughout shift required.
Ability to lift, carry, push and pull a minimum of 50 pounds required.
Ability to bend, stoop, or kneel and to stand for long periods of time.
Ability to work a variable 40-hours per week including nights, weekends, overnights, and holidays.
Excellent organizational, communication, leadership, presentation and interpersonal skills required.
Strong decision-making and problem resolution skills required.
Basic PC skills required.
Basic English literacy and math skills required.
