Application Testing Lead The application testing lead / analyst is a hands-on role that requires strong knowledge of software testing methodologies and tools. Candidates must have experience with formal testing tools such as HP Quality Center, Quick Test Pro, Mercury Tools, etc. This role is responsible for guiding the testing of computer programs/applications to verify whether they are “working as designed” (i.e., meeting all customer and contract requirements), including: managing customer relationships and understanding customer/development requirements for test engagement; designing the test strategy/methodology and developing the master test plan/schedule; architecting and configuring test environments and test scenario conditions/parameters; training others to develop and execute test scenarios; performing Test Lead role; and documenting, tracking, analyzing, and summarizing test strategies, results and defects. Primary job duties:
  • Managing customer relationships and requirements for test engagements by actively participating in developing requirements and design documentation in order to ensure they can be properly tested; performing Test Lead role for entire test engagement (including managing expectations and delegating additional resources, if needed); acting as mediator/facilitator between testers and development team (including business owners and developers) regarding differences of opinion with respect to defects; managing variable set of parameters (i.e., time, cost, coverage).
  • Analyzing documents (e.g., design, requirements, architecture, diagrams, flowcharts) to obtain an understanding of the requirements of the test engagement and defining/creating the test strategy/methodology, test architecture, and master test plan/schedule (including defect projection).
  • Creating the architecture and configuration of test environments and test scenario conditions/parameters by providing overall framework for all of the tests to be performed for a test engagement, including identifying types of tests needed.
  • Analyzing test results and defects to substantiate the quality of the application/system; analyzing trends, severity, and characterization of defects identified by multiple test analysts ; and tracking and providing reports of discovered defects.
  • Training other test analysts in execution of test scenarios and actual development/execution of test scenarios by reviewing their work, developing test scenarios to emulate the end user’s experience so that owners/developers can validate findings and adjust the applications/systems as appropriate, and performing regression testing after a defect is fixed (i.e., ensuring that a “fix” did not cause any other problems in systems or programs).
    Candidate must have the ability to work in the United States without a current or future need for visa sponsorship

    Required
    • Bachelor's Degree
    • At least 5 years experience in Hands-on experience in analyzing requirements and
    • At least 4 years experience in Hands-on experience in analyzing requirements and designing/executing test strategies, test plans, and test cases using an industry-standard test management tool
    • At least 2 years experience in Experience leading small testing teams
    • At least 2 years experience in Excellent client interaction and communication skills (written and verbal)
    • At least 2 years experience in Experience facilitating meetings to gather requirements and present solutions.
    • At least 2 years experience in Demonstrated ability to take ownership of tasks, deliver on schedule, understand and manage priorities and raise risks/issues on a timely basis.
    • English: Basic knowledge

    Preferred
    • At least 7 years experience in Hands-on experience in analyzing requirements and
    • At least 7 years experience in Hands-on experience in analyzing requirements and designing/executing test strategies, test plans, and test cases using an industry-standard test management tool
    • At least 4 years experience in Experience leading small testing teams
    • English : Intermediate

    Note Regarding Travel: The IBM Michigan Delivery Center is an in-bound delivery model where we support our clients from our East Lansing, MI center. Some travel is expected and all candidates must be willing and able to travel to meet our client needs. Travel is typically related to knowledge transfer and training at the client site and could be several months up front (Monday thru Friday).
