Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation is a world leader in the design and manufacture of advanced helicopters for commercial, industrial and military uses. Plan, conduct and report flight tests. Test planning function involves determining measurement and flight condition requirements necessary to safely provide evaluation, qualification and certification data. These details are written into published test plans. Test conduct involves briefing flight and ground crews and real-time telemetry monitoring of critical parameters. Large volumes of gathered flight data are processed and analyzed. Certification or qualification tests are summarized in reports. Test disciplines include Aircraft Performance, Handling Qualities, Flight Controls, Structures, Dynamics, Acoustics, Power Plants and Avionics.
Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Engineering Science.
Key skills and knowledge required are: Analytical thinking and problem solving, Communication--written and oral, General aviation knowledge. Aircraft maintenance or pilot experience is a plus.
The job involves significant teamwork and coordination with flight test co-workers in a variety of disciplines (pilots, mechanics, inspectors, instrumentation and data technicians), qualification or certification authority representatives and subject matter expert design engineers. Good interpersonal skills are imperative. Personal flexibility is required to occasionally support unusual working hours and travel to conduct off-site testing.
Position located in West Palm Beach, FL.
