Job Description


The Healthcare Instructor position reports to the Director of Career Pathways and is responsible for teaching in the Career Pathways Healthcare Programs at Instituto del Progreso Latino. The primary responsibility of this position is to provide quality, contextualized instruction to prepare students to enter C.NA and LPN training programs.

Preparing course plans and materials Delivering courses Monitoring progress/attendance Advising students Recording grades and submitting reports Measurable Improvement in Students Performance Teacher has the urgency that all her/his students will master knowledge and skills according to their educational plan, and uses data to drive instruction developing adequate interventions. Interactive Rigorous Learning Environment to Integrate Real-World Applications within the Health Sciences Context Teacher integrates relevant health context in the curriculum, provides students with problem solving learning experiences in a knowledge generating environment. Collaborative and Collegial Professionalism Teacher fosters and maintains strong relationships with colleges, students, their families and the community. Also, demonstrates leadership ability, and strong critical thinking skills to making accurate linkages between cause and effect and generating relevant solutions to problems. And finally, has excellent organizational ability.

Teacher Performance Standards:
Performance Standard 1: Data-Driven Planning- The teacher uses data to plan appropriate curricula, implement instructional strategies, and use resources to promote learning for all students. The teacher assumes responsibility for meeting his/her course and school-wide student performance goals. Performance Standard 2: Instructional Delivery- The teacher promotes student learning by addressing individual learning differences and by using effective instructional strategies. The teacher implements instructional activities that contribute to a climate where students are actively engaged in meaningful learning experiences. Performance Standard 3: Assessment- The teacher analyzes assessment data to measure student progress and guide immediate and long-range instruction. Performance Standard 4: Learning Environment- The teacher provides a well-managed, safe student-centered environment that is academically challenging and where students are encouraged to be actively engaged in the learning process. Performance Standard 5: Communication- The teacher communicates effectively both orally and in writing with students, staff, parents/guardians, industry representatives and the community and maintains appropriate communication with each group. Performance Standard 6: Professionalism- The teacher maintains a professional demeanor, participates in professional growth opportunities, demonstrates an understanding of the curriculum, and contributes to the profession. Performance Standard 7: Student Achievement- The work of the teacher results in acceptable, measurable student progress.
Additional Responsibilities
Organization- The instructor meets professional obligations through efficient work habits such as: meeting deadlines, honoring schedules, coordinating and performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor. Collaboration - The instructor collaborates with peers to enhance the instructional environment, keeps in regular contact with case managers, and maintains cooperative working relationships with students. practitioner to coordinate the implementation of lesson plans, corresponding activities, and assessments. Content Knowledge - The instructor demonstrates strong content knowledge and a continuing interest in the subject matter. Instructors implement the contextualized curriculum with a practical application of the medical field Planning- The instructor is responsible for preparing daily lesson plans that include but are not limited to, class objectives, materials needed, and assessment tools and methods


Qualifications, Experience/Education
BA/ BS preferred; Healthcare Occupational Training License (C.NA, LPN, RN) 2 or more years previous work experience as a Practioner, preferred Experience working with a membership or volunteer environment preferred, nonprofit associations ideal Ability to maintain a high sense of confidentiality Prior experience working with external vendors and client Able to work with a wide variety of people Team player and willing to take on multiple tasks at once and independent worker, requires minimal supervision Exceptional organization and time management skills Above average customer service attitude Excellent oral and written communication skills, bilingual English/Spanish preferred Strong telephone skills and ability to maintain composure under pressure. Dependable and punctual Strong project management skills, attention to detail and effective management of multiple projects at one time Ability to adhere to deadlines, react to unpredictable events quickly and efficiently, be resourceful, manage conflict and challenges Advanced skills with Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and the Internet
