Position Description: A Technical Writer with 2-4+ years of experience in managing, writing, and editing technical and program documentation for one of our clients. The position will be in DC walking distance from the metro. Responsibilities: Manage the development of formal documentation in support of programs and projects involving electrical and electronic security, utility management, information technology systems, HF radio networks as required Possess knowledge of government and military standards in developing technical documentation; able to adapt and comply with DHS/FEMA writing standards Develop, write and edit material and illustrations for reports, manuals, briefs, instruction manuals, catalogs and other technical publications regarding engineering and/or related technical disciplines Review journals, reports and industry materials to become/maintain familiarity with product or process terminology Review manufacturers° and trade catalogs, drawings and other data relative to operation, maintenance, testing and servicing of equipment Maintain document requirements tracking system by project/program and controls all distribution of contract deliverable documentation in accordance with contract requirements Provide packaging of documentation both physical and electronic formats as required by contract Liaison between Engineering and Program Managers to ensure contract documentation is completed and submitted in accordance with contract documents Submit all contract deliverables to the government Project Management Office as directed Provide contract deliverables status updates to the Program Manager and appropriate Project Managers Provide editing support to technical writers/engineers/instructors submitting draft documents and quality reviews of all final contract deliverables prior to submittal Maintain the technical and project documentation libraries Qualifications: Minimum two (2) years ’ technical writing experience in a technical discipline with previous government experience desirable High level of experience in publishing documents using MS Word, Excel, Power Point, Visio High level of knowledge in the use of computers in generating technical documentation in both printed and CD ROM formats Knowledge in generating CD manuals with indexed links to multiple documents from within a master document Skilled in the application of graphics into technical documentation Bachelor ’s Degree with emphasis in Journalism, English, Technical Writing, or Engineering. Eight plus years ’ demonstrated Technical Writing expertise may substitute for Bachelor ’s Degree Security Clearance: Top Secret/SCI About the Company: A Veteran-owned small business (VOSB) dedicated to aligning customers ’ programs and the mission and business goals they support.
