A full-time vacancy exists for a Registered Nurse/Certified Transplant Coordinator, (CCTC) to work in the Transplant Section of the Surgical Specialty Service Line, University Drive Division. The incumbent will function as a Coordinator for VA Transplant patients being evaluated and/or listed for liver transplants. The incumbent is responsible for care of and coordination of services for pre and post operative transplant patients. This position generally requires an 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM schedule, but may be adjusted based on patient care needs and the requirements of the transplant service. Back-up Kidney Transplant Coordinator support may be required in unusual circumstances.

KEY REQUIREMENTS:
U.S. Citizenship

Full unrestricted Licensure, Certification, or Registration required.

Must pass pre-employment examination.

Designated and/or Random Drug Testing required.

Background and/or Security Investigation required.

English Language Proficiency required.

DUTIES:
a. Administratively accountable to the Associate Chief Nurse for the Surgical Specialty Care Service Line. Coordinates Transplant care in conjunction with the Physicians of Transplant Medicine and Transplant Surgery.

b. Effectively utilizes all aspects of the nursing process and established medical and transplan tprotocols to provide optimal nursing care to patients in a multi-faceted transplant section.

c. Practices within the guidelines of the policies, procedures, and the standards of care/practice related to an active transplant section.

d. Maintains current knowledge of multidisciplinary resources, UNOS policies and procedures, Joint Commission standards, and related program and services within this healthcare system.

e. Resolves problems related to patient care services in the transplant service and associated areas of the Medical Center.

f. Is flexible, organized and able to adapt to change.

g. Works a flexible tour of duty, based on clinic schedules and patient care needs. Call coverage for liver transplant service is required on a rotating basis.
